Funky Buddha Brewery, located in Oakland Park, Florida, is seeking a part-time Steward to join its growing team. Established in 2010 at its Boca Raton brewpub, Funky Buddha is known for pushing the boundaries of traditional brewing methods with culinary-inspired recipes utilizing all-natural, food-centric ingredients. Some of its best-known beers include flagships Hop Gun IPA and Floridian Hefeweizen. This fast-growing company is the first production brewery in the greater Fort Lauderdale area and the largest brewery in South Florida and is positioned for rapid expansion over the next few years.

Principle Responsibilities / Position Purpose

The Steward is responsible for maintaining the kitchen, dish washing and back area in an inspection-ready condition in accordance with local authority and brewery guidelines. The Steward is accountable for maintaining a high standard of sanitation of all kitchen equipment, and for keeping breakage to a minimum. The Steward is responsible for washing dishes, flatware and kitchen vessels, as well as sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning and detailing equipment and assisting with food preparation when requested.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Carry out general cleaning as directed to include sweeping, mopping up, washing up, emptying of rubbish bins and boxes, ensuring placement in the correct containers
• Collects and removes trash from all areas of the operation following established procedures.
• Dispose of waste as per the brewery and authority standards and adhere to recycling guidelines.
• Assist in the set up and break down of service areas for all special functions.
• Cleans stoves, ovens, grills, refrigerators, and using cleaning solutions, brushes and wash cloths.
• Washes utensils, such as pots, pans, and trays by hand using cleaning detergents. Washes dishware, glasses, and cutlery by hand or machine. Occasionally polishes utensils. Drains dries and stacks items after washing.
• Transports food supplies, such as meats, vegetables, fruits, and canned foods from storeroom or freezer, using trolley/basket to kitchen. Returns surplus food to storeroom or freezer.
• May assist with food preparation, such as blending soups, washing and peeling vegetables, etc.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in staff training opportunities.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

OSHA laws require the use of the following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing work duties that have the potential of risk to your health or safety:

• Safety goggles when walking through the Production area

Employees will be trained in the proper use and care of assigned PPE. Funky Buddha Brewery provides the required PPE. It is your responsibility to report defective, damaged or lost PPE, or equipment that does not fit properly to your Manager.

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

• Completes all established set-up, cleaning, stocking and closing duties in a timely manner
• Knows and adheres to health and sanitation guidelines and follows all safety policies
• Able to work early morning or night hours and weekends
• Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).
• Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
• Punctual and regular, reliable attendance.

• Passion for the service industry, desire to be part of a team and work hard, high level of self-awareness and long-term view of success.
• Must be at least 21 years old.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

EDUCATION

High School diploma preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Prior experience preferred.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES

No special licenses or certificates required.

GROOMING

All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.

OTHER

Additional language ability preferred.
