SUMMARY DESCRIPTION

Mid-sized hospitality group is looking for an individual to fill a server role for a 56-seat vegan soul food restaurant located in the East Village. This individual will be 1 of a 3-person team responsible for the daily operations of the restaurant. They will have a direct impact on the level of service that we offer to our guests, not only through the service you provide but your interaction with the guests themselves. Additionally, you are someone who has a passion for food & wine, a proven track record of great food and even greater leadership and is able to work well with others, all while remaining motivated, energetic and passionate about what we do. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES:

• Always treat guests with courtesy and respect in a variety of situations
• Practice honesty & integrity
• Maintain open communication with Head chef
• Complete all opening and closing duties as assigned
• Be mindful of the importance of personal hygiene and grooming
• Adhere to federal, state & local Health and Safety guidelines

• Extreme comfort in multi-tasking in high stress and fast-paced situations
• In-depth knowledge of food and above-average creativity when developing menus and recipes
• Exceptional organization skills

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

• Maintain a strong knowledge of all food & beverage offerings
• Take guest’s orders and make appropriate food and wine recommendations.
• Accurately input orders into POS
• Anticipate guest’s needs and respond promptly
• Interact in a courteous and professional manner with guests and co-workers
• Alert chef to all allergies or dietary restrictions
• Ensure accuracy of all guest checks and promptly process payments
• Notify management to any pertinent information related to the shift
• • Engage with customers in a friendly manner.
  • Knowledge of the menu, with the ability to make suggestions.
  • Ensure tables are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems.
• Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers

REQUIREMENTS:

• 1-3 years of similar experience, preferably in a vegan/plant-based restaurant
• Ability to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 6-8 hours)
• Extensive knowledge of food, beverage and wine preferred
