Under the general direction of the section Program and Project Supervisor (PPS), the incumbent will have lead responsibility in conducting complex economic, policy and/or technical analyses and research related to the resilience and reliability of the state’s energy grid including analyzing energization timelines and oversight of the technical aspects of the utilities’ infrastructure vulnerability assessments. To support meeting the state’s climate goals, analyst will coordinate with relevant CPUC proceedings and other state and federal agencies/policies including consideration of California’s Climate Assessment, improvements and research investments necessary to support improved energization processes, incorporation of established equity and affordability principles, and monitoring overall project impacts. Analyst will support Administrative Law Judges (ALJ), Commissioners, and Advisors. The incumbent will consider diversity, equity, and inclusion in policy analysis, stakeholder engagement, and internal processes. The position is pursuant to Chapter 394, Statutes of 2023 (Senate Bill (SB) 410).

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

  • Technical analysis and knowledge of utilities energy systems, particularly extreme weather impacts.
  • Knowledge of California climate and energy policies.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with Modeling and Statistics.
