Position: Director, Operational Risk Oversight
Status: Direct-Hire, Permanent FTE
Location: Minneapolis, MN – Seeking Local Candidates
Salary: Based on Experience

+ years of expertise in enterprise risk management coupled with a Bachelor's degree.

 

 

Overview

Global Risk Services’ mission is to partner with our client’s global workforce to facilitate sound risk analysis for decision-making to achieve the Company’s strategic and financial objectives.

The Director, Operational Risk Oversight works with Global Risk Services to lead and embed the operational risk management framework at the enterprise level.

Responsibilities

Manages the Operational Risk Framework

  • Manages and improves the operational risk management framework to ensure that it is user-friendly and adds maximum value to the Company
  • Partners with global stakeholders to align the Company’s Operational Risk taxonomy with the overall ERM framework
  • Prepares insights for the Operational Risk Committee and provides operational risk reports and updates for leadership
  • Manages operational risk policies and standards
  • Responsible for providing 2nd line oversight and objective challenge for operational risk matters, risk assessments, and risk incident reporting
  • Partners across geographies and with global stakeholders to lead all operational risk-related incident reporting at the enterprise level, ensuring appropriate actions for timely resolution

Operational Risk Committee (ORC) Secretary:

  • Supports the Chair of the ORC in executing roles & responsibilities
  • Responsible for coordinating and preparing the ORC agenda and materials
  • Taking minutes of all ORC meetings

Supports the execution of a Global Enterprise Risk Management Program to deliver better insights and an enterprise view of operational risk exposure, relative to established tolerances.

  • Coordinate and facilitate the risk identification and assessment process
  • Assist in the inherent and residual risk assessment process for all operational risks
  • Review and challenge first-line assessments, including impact and other criteria
  • Assist in the implementation of a revised operational risk taxonomy across the enterprise
  • Participate in the development of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), dashboards and other reporting requirements
  • Support the integration of the program into the Company’s existing Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework

Assist the VP, Head of Global Risk Oversight & Operational Risk

Assist the VP, Head of Global Risk Oversight & Operational Risk with various tasks and activities as needed

Other:

  • Participates in special projects, committees, and meetings as required
  • Performs other duties as required

 

Requirements

Education & Experience

- Required:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
• 5 years of experience in enterprise risk management or related risk fields with responsibilities

Preferred:

• Recognized enterprise risk management designation or education
• Master’s Degree, MBA, FSA or CPA/CA
• Cross-company and/or cross-industry risk management experience

- Required:

• Experience working in enterprise risk management disciplines with a focus on risk & control self-assessments, emerging risks and key risk indicators
• Strong oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well-received by all stakeholders at various levels
• Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Excellent ability to drive to conclusions and deliver results on a timely basis
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills utilizing experience, research, guidelines, and internal resource networks
• Ability to identify and resolve technical, operational, and organizational issues
• Advanced project management skills. Demonstrates ability to evaluate project objectives and scope feasibility, gain understanding, schedule resources, and manage budget to plan
• Expert skills in managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, including the ability to handle changing priorities
• Ability to foster a collaborative, teamwork-oriented, and customer service-focused environment that leads to consistent, value-adding solutions
• Able to quickly learn and understand the business of the Company
• Able to work autonomously as part of a global team and also manage time zone scheduling challenges
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills including spreadsheets and presentation software
• Sound attention to detail
